Refet Afrique Partners With Catwalk The World

CatWALK THE WORLD – “Fashion for Food” became in 2006 the latest move by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Health PR to Fight Child Hunger in Africa. The campaign CatWALK THE WORLD – “Fashion for Food” is An High Profile off shoot of Walk the World which is WFP’s annual world wide walk for Stop Child Hunger across all time zones. The last Walk had over 760,000 people walking in 118 countries and 420 locations.

The CatWALK THE WORLD International Campaign consists of High Profile Fashion shows with charity dinners around the world with the biggest and most respected Designers and entertainment artists.

It is well documented that exclusive fashion shows attract the ‘who is who’ from the World’s Social Elite and command unprecedented media attention. The CatWALK the World International Campaign capitalises on this fact by organising High Profile Charity Fashion shows around the world for United Nations Millennium development goal of eradicating Child Hunger by 2015. So its the glamour, glitz and wealth from the Fashion Industry will be used to create awareness and generate funds to help the millions of children suffering from Hunger and hunger related diseases.

One such way of helping these children is through the School Feeding programme, where at least one nutritious meal a day is provided to children in school. The school meal encourages enrolment and attendance, and on a full stomach, the children also perform better. With a basic education, we are able to break the cycle of poverty from passing from one generation to the next.

Catwalk The World have been held all over Africa and beyond including Sierra Leone, Ghana, Libeira, South Africa, Nigeria, Mali, Jamaica and Uk together with the Mayor of London. In 2007 Catwalk The World won the award as the best new humanitarian campaign at the prestigous World Quality Awards in Paris. London This years programme include events in Togo, Senegal, Congo and Tanzania
